I hope our calendar is not too late

For the new year, I made the calendar with all doubts about the radical time we humans have created, human centralization, an extreme time for us, flora, and fauna. Humans understand and use numbers and time mostly with one perspective. Then, what are we missing?Why are we trying to encapsulate all moving and freely alive existences to make everything controllable and perceive it as a fixed condition?
Suppose we face a period when the speed of destroying the earth's immune system is in proportion to the accelerating machine technology. What perspective can be nurtured in this specific learning time of the pandemic, with the revealed vulnerability of anthropocentric systems and inequality?
The externally exposed social, political, and ecological problems are related to fundamental human attitudes of how our ancestors perceived, valued, exploited the natural world, and penetrated until nowadays unsustainable neoliberal attitudes.
In addition to this deeply rooted phenomenon, the grievous breath in forests and livestock animals' emotions from exploitive human hegemony are circulating through unified air. And species of humans, we breathe it together with all existing species. Ignoring their strangeness means losing our physical and spiritual sense and forgetting the balance of future and hope.
To get closer to a sustainable vision, I believe the practice of looking at even one plant differently and projecting animal's eyes and emotion onto our human mind is the starting point for acquiring a new perspective in this complex era.
The calendar focuses on clouds, water, plants, geological layers, causality, and yin and yang movement. The time we rely on is kept circulating by water and clouds. It flows everywhere and connects even in the deepest cave in the earth and will continually accumulate the history of circulation in geological layers.
The contaminated water and air we humans create will be purified and polluted simultaneously, which becomes a new life for plants and affects our flora and fauna's condition. This integrative journey keeps a sustainable ecosystem both for humans and nature. However, the speed of extraction toward the natural world spreads the toxic circulation, and therefore, it continually disappoints the flora and fauna's expectation of regeneration and their future.
In the calendar, there are many reflections and circulating yin and yang. Each clean and polluted water and cloud reflect each other and become one. Each month's colors and the use of vanishing points show the season and permanent relation we have with time.Together the plants and clouds create the future across the present time as abridge to protect newly growing plants.
We will continuously meet the past ancient time, yesterday and this year, by air, water, and clouds. And the future is hopefully awaiting us to bring into more responsible causality.

이달력을 만들게 된 동기는 인간의 자본 중심적 시스템이 만들어낸 소모적이고 불평등한 현상, 기계적이고 연쇄적인 착취에 대한 의구심, 인간과 동식물이 처한 극단적인 생활환경에 대한 동정심에서 비롯되었다.
시간은움직이는 생명과 순환하는 생태계로 생동한다. 그러나 우리 인간은 단 하나의 관점에서 시간을 이해하고 숫자로 그것을 규정해왔다. 어째서 우리는 생동하는 시공간과 그 안에 자유롭게 살아가는 존재들, 그들의 감정마저도 단편적이고 수치화된 편협한 관점 아래 구속하여 욕망하고 소비해 온 것일까.
지구의면역 시스템은 기계의 속도만큼 맹렬하게 가속화되어 파괴되고 있다. 그런 와중 근 2년에 가까운 팬데믹 상황으로 인간 중심적 시스템의 취약성과 불평등이 더욱 극명하게 드러나고 있다. 이를 보는 우리는 어떤 관점과 태도를 길러야 할까.
외부로드러난 사회 정치적 이슈, 휴머니티, 착취와 난민, 생태적 문제의 시발점은 언제나 인간의 태도와 깊이 결부되어 왔다. 바로 어떻게 자연과 다른 생명을 바라보고 거기에 가치를 매기는가에 대한 근본적인 태도이다. 이런 복합적 문제 이면에는 지금, 이 순간에도 눈먼 욕망에 의해 희생되는 생명이 있다. 사라지는 숲과 비좁은 철창 속에서 내쉬는 생명의 슬픈 호흡은 순환하는 대기 속에서 인간의 숨과 함께 섞인다. 이 사라져가는 동식물의 숨과 유기성, 곧 우리가 잃어가는 육체적, 정신적 감각은 미래의 균형과 희망을 저버리는 현재의 편린들이 아닐까.
지속가능한 비전에 다가가기 위해서 우리는 낯선 관점을 연마해야 한다. 주변의 작은 식물 하나라도 다르게 바라보고 동물들의 눈과 마음을 우리 인간들의 마음에 투영하는 연습. 그것이 오늘날 일어나는 복합적 현상을 바로 볼 수 있는 시작점일 것이다.
이달력은 구름, 식물, 물,순환, 축적된 지질층과 인과관계 그리고 음양의 조화에 중점을 두었다. 우리가 일상에서 조우하는 시간은 물과 함께 순환하고, 이는 대기층과 지구의 가장 깊숙한 동굴까지 이어진다. 수백만 년의 순환의 역사가 지질층에 축적되어 대지의 균형 아래 영속된다.
인간의개발로 오염된 물과 공기는 끊임없이 움직이는 이러한 순환작용에 의해 정화됨과 동시에 또다시 오염되며 이는 곧 새로이 자라나는 어린 동식물들과 인간이 살아가는 환경이 된다. 이러한 통합적인 치유의 여정은 생태계 순환의 일부이자 5원소가 이루어 내는 합작이다. 그러나 치유를 기다리는 동식물들의 바람과 달리 오늘날 인간이 자연을 착취하는 속도는 오히려 오염된 순환을 지속시키고 자연의 미래를 낙담시키고 있다.
달력에는맑은 물과 오염된 물, 그리고 구름이 서로를 동시에 비추며 긴장감을 형성하는 한편 음양의 조화를 이루며 미래를 만들어 가는 모습이 보인다. 소실점 구성과 월별로 다른 색으로 칠해진 시각 효과는 변화무쌍한 계절의 변화와 시간의 영속성을 드러낸다. 미래의 식물과 구름이 상호작용하며 현재로 통하는 다리를 건너, 어쩌면 미래의 희망이 되어 줄, 오늘날 새롭게 자라나는 식물을 보호하고 있다.
우리는오래된 지구의 시간을, 과거를, 어제를, 그리고 현재의 시간을 물과 공기,구름을 통해 계속해서 만날 것이다. 미래는 우리의 변화로 인한 건강한 인과관계를 기다린다.
